CANAL No. 2 is a 108-page dual-language print and digital broadsheet that’s a true convergence of photography, design, typography, film and creative technology to pay homage to the quintessential NYC main street in lower Manhattan. With 4 Chapters in total, the magazine is a playground to capture the vibe and energy of Canal Street, using AR and film to build an experiential project that pushes the boundaries of mixed media in a highly engaging way.

Chasing Light


The foundation of our documentary “Chasing Light” was to tell a story that’s just as tangible as it is beautiful. We set out to find the crux of thoughtful documentary narrative and beautiful visuals, not just to look great on a big screen but also within the pages of CANAL Magazine, issue 2.

Geoff Levy/Grand Crew and Sunday Afternoon worked together to translate the film into nine spreads, integrated with AR technology that project chapters of the documentary on top of the magazine’s pages. Portraits of the film’s characters are interwoven with landscape photography and thoughtful design to create moments that prompt readers to watch the chapters of the film across the pages of the magazine.
